Conservation groups sue Trump admin over changes to Endangered Species Act

Conservation organization WildEarth Guardians and six other environmental and animal protection groups filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over changes it made to the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

The nonprofit law firm Earthjustice filed the lawsuit on behalf of the Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife, Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council, National Parks Conservation Association, WildEarth Guardians and the Humane Society of the United States.

McKinley County adds more Voter Convenience Centers

The McKinley County Bureau of Elections has added three more Voter Convenience Centers in the Gallup, Red Rock, Thoreau and Crownpoint areas for federal, state and county elections.

Urban voting precinct locations have now been replaced with Voter Convenience Centers.

Grants awarded $1.5M for Washington Avenue Bridge

GRANTS, N.M. - The City of Grants was awarded $1.42 million to replace the bridge on Washington Avenue. The current 60-year-old bridge is crumbling, Mayor Martin Hicks said.

“That bridge is older than me,” he emphasized. “Look at it, the bottom of it is all corroded. It is in poor shape.”

The City is required to make a $75,000 match toward the estimated $1.5 million bridge project. The new bridge is currently at 60 percent. Design and construction is planned for the spring of 2020.
