Gallup Patrolman Richard Rangel was dispatched to 2500 Hwy. 602 just after 8 pm on May 23 in reference to a reckless driver in a gray Nissan Versa with a New Mexico license plate.

While en route, Rangel was told by Metro Dispatch that the vehicle in question was parked...

DOUBLE GPS LARCENY

Gallup, June 3

Gallup Police Officer Alana Bradley was dispatched to 285 S. Boardman Dr. in response to a pair of larcenies that were reported by the Gallup Magistrate Court.

When Bradley made contact with the court, she was told that two people had failed to charge their GPS monitors as part of a signed written contract for the McKinley County Compliance Program.

Tyson Long, 23, of Iyanbito, and Terran Sam, 28, of Gallup, were identified by the magistrate court.

Bradley said she took on further action, but no other information was given in her report.

Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services has partnered with Dist. 1 Councilor Linda Garcia to remove “addiction debris” and overgrown vegetation at a former homeless camp near St. Joseph’s Shelter and Soup Kitchen at 400 N Fifth St. in Gallup.

The hospital’s Community Work Service organization cleared gated alleys adjacent to the shelter in June.

The clean-up was performed by a four-person crew from RMCHCS’ community organization, which is comprised of former addicts residing at the hospital’s Behavioral Health Treatment Center. The clean-up took three days with close to a ton of debris removed from two long...

The journey to Rockin J Reawakenings

Rockin J Reawakenings Veterans Center and Ranch in Prewitt, N.M., is named for two people whose first names start with the letter J;  Jess and Jori Butler. Butler was a diesel engine mechanic on the USS Frederick LST 1184.

Jess Butler and his wife Jori, who run a little jewelry shop in Thoreau, met another Navy veteran one day and found out Mark Kasehagen had also served on the USS Frederick, as a corpsman. Turned out they were neighbors.

The two veterans got together and started considering businesses they could partner in that would give back to the community. Butler said, “Community and kids are our priorities.”

Gallup Police Department seeking public help in missing persons cases

All current leads exhausted

The input of a vigilant reader may be the next clue to help bring a number of missing persons home to Gallup.

At least that is what Gallup Police Department hopes for.

Lieutenant Billy Padavich held a special meeting for the press at Gallup police station June 6 to give details on four missing persons cases that the department is now seeking public help with.

“We have no [new] leads, and we’ve exhausted all our current leads at this point,” Padavich said.
