While patrolling State Road 602, New Mexico State Police Officer Justin Maese said a white Jeep failed to yield, turning onto West Aztec Avenue causing him to slam on his brakes. After performing a traffic stop and approaching the vehicle, Maese said he could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle.

The driver, Angelita Charley, 51, of Church Rock, N.M., was slow with her actions, had slurred speech and appeared confused, according to police reports. Maese said Charley failed the field sobriety tests and failed to take further tests. Charley was arrested for aggravated DWI, failure to yield, and no driver’s license.

Gallup Police narcotics agents, detectives and officers served a search warrant at 603 S. Second St. at 7 am July 22 in connection with an investigation into the alleged trafficking of methamphetamine.

Police found four people at the house.

● Brian Haudley, 41, of Gallup who was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, a fourth-degree felony and an outstanding bench warrant.

● Frances Haudley, 39, was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance — methamphetamine, a second-degree felony.

The City of Gallup Street Department will start milling and paving operations July 23 at Hospital Drive from Red Rock Drive to the edge of the concrete.

The Public Works Department will post "Road Closed" and "Detour" signs and requests that motorists seek alternate routes, reduce their speed, and avoid parking on the street.

Plan extra time for trips through this area.

This project is expected to conclude on July 30th, but may be delayed due to weather.
