RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján, D-N.M., hosted a roundtable discussion with a variety of New Mexico agricultural partners to discuss improving nutrition access, farmer crop and livestock programs, and other priorities for the 2023 Farm Bill reauthorization on Aug. 23. Following their discussion, Luján toured the local farm at the New Mexico State University Sustainable Agriculture Science Center in Alcalde, N.M. As a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, Luján will play a critical role in shaping the legislation, ensuring it better serves the needs of New Mexican agriculture producers and consumers.

Table Top Telephone receives funding for network upgrades

AJO, ARIZ. – Table Top Telephone has been awarded  funding to improve its rural infrastructure. This award will assist in Table Top’s mission of  delivering quality communications solutions by moving its customers from a copper-based  network to a fiber-optic connection.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture  has awarded a $3.7 million grant to Table Top  through the ReConnect III program. This program offers funding to facilitate long-term  development and opportunities in rural America that don’t have sufficient access to broadband.  The project will deploy 43.5 miles of fiber-to-the-premise technology to 179 locations in Apache County.

Luján visits communities impacted by Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire

LAS VEGAS, N.M.  – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján, D-N.M., traveled to Las Vegas and Mora on Aug. 24 to tour communities impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and receive an update on the current recovery efforts in the communities of Mora and San Miguel Counties from local officials and state and federal agencies assisting with the fire. Following their discussion, Senator Luján visited the John T. Harrington Forestry Research Center, the largest producer of tree seedlings in the southwestern U.S., to meet with staff and learn how the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Wildfire has impacted their communities and crops. Unscheduled water outage Aug. 29

An unscheduled water outage will take place on Aug. 29 from 1:30 pm until 4 pm.

City of Gallup water customers in the 3700 block of Dulce Court will be affected, and customers in surrounding areas may experience low water pressure.

The Water Department will be making repairs to a service line break in the area and will need to shut off the water in order to do their work safely.
