State reduces paperwork for teachers by 41%

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced on Sept. 12 that the Public Education Department has completed an overhaul of reporting requirements, trimming 34% from administrative work required of school districts and charter schools across New Mexico and cutting teacher paperwork by 41%.

This fulfills an executive order issued May 23 by Lujan Grisham to reduce the administrative burden for teachers and school administrators by 25% by the start of the 2022-23 school year.

The Albuquerque FBI Violent Gang Task Force executed 16 federal search warrants in various locations in Albuquerque and at Bernalillo County’s Metropolitan Detention Center on Sept. 1 as part of an ongoing RICO/VICAR investigation targeting violent street and prison gangs.

Drunk driver becomes violent, damages police car

A man was driving drunk and became violent with police when they pulled him over. He also damaged a police car.

On Aug. 29, around 9 am, Gallup Police Officer Alana Bradley was driving eastbound on Highway 66 near the intersection of Second Street when she noticed a gray car driving westbound on Highway 66 try to make a left hand turn onto Second Street, which is one-way street.

Bradley was able to pull the vehicle over, and when he pulled the car over, the driver, who was identified as Alexander Grebb, stuck his head out the window. The Gallup Police Department is asking for assistance from the public locating Tyesha Yuselew, 14, of Gallup.  She is 5’6” tall, weighs 100 lbs., and has short black hair with green, orange and red colored highlights.

She was last seen at 1904 Mossman Ave. on Sept. 8, around 2 am  She was last seen wearing khaki pants and a black t-shirt with a design on it.  She had on black high-top shoes with yellow laces on one shoe, and white laces on the other.  She has a yellow bracelet on her left arm with scars along her wrists.
