Unregistered sex offender apprehended in Gamerco

A man who had been convicted of the rape of a child in Pennsylvania was found in Gamerco on Aug. 20 around 3:30 pm.

The McKinley County Sheriff's Office had been given a photo of Andres Cortez, 40, and his information so that they could be on the look out for him. According to McKinley County Undersheriff James Maiorano, Cortez had an outstanding warrant from Pennsylvania because he hadn't registered as a sex offender and he broke his parole by fleeing to New Mexico.

"We worked diligently with the U.S. Marshals Service to track this guy down and get him back to prison, where he belongs," Maiorano said in a statement given to the Sun.

Fatal head-on crash on Interstate 40 in Cibola County

The New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal head-on crash involving two Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) on Interstate 40 near milepost 131, east of Laguna, NM, on Aug. 19 around 1:59 pm.

The initial investigation indicated a 2014 Freightliner CMV, driven by a 50-year-old male from California, was traveling east on Interstate 40 when one of the CMV’s front tires sustained a blowout. The CMV left the roadway, crossed the median, and went into oncoming traffic on the westbound lanes of Interstate 40.

The CMV collided head-on with a westbound 2016 Freightliner CMV, which was driven by Steven Kay Hales, 64, of St. George, UT. Hales sustained fatal injuries in the crash, and he...

Navajo Nation Department of Public Safety looking for missing man

Navajo Nation Department of Public Safety is asking for the public's assistance in locating Carl L. Montoya-Franklin.

Franklin is a 36-year-old Hispanic male, 5’8” tall, weighing 240 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen on July 5, 2015, in the Church Rock, NM area. Franklin was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, gray sweatpants, a blue “NY Yankees” baseball hat, and a pair of white tennis shoes. Franklin does have a goatee and mustache. He also has tattoos on both arms, on both legs, and tattoos of “Game Over” on both eyelids. His whereabouts are unknown.

Navajo Nation Department of Public Safety looking for missing man

The Navajo Nation Department of Public Safety is asking for the public's assistance in locating Daniel C. White. White is a 43-year-old Hispanic male who is 5’7” tall, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen on October 2, 2017, leaving Tohlakai to go look for work in a navy blue 2008 Toyota Corolla with a Michigan license plate of DPP-4998. White did not return. His whereabouts and destination are not known.

UPDATE: Constance Martin has been found.

Constance Martin was last seen by her mother at 12:30 am on Aug. 17 at her home at 2708 Radosevich Ave in Gallup. She was wearing a gray and white tie dye pullover and her hair was in a ponytail. She has a stud nose ring on the right side of her nose.

Constance is known to use drugs and may be with her friends. It is unknown where her friends live. She has been prescribed medication for depression, but doesn't take it.
