The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the stabbing death of a Laguna Pueblo man.

On Aug. 12, 2021, Victor G. Jones, 42, was found deceased in the driveway of a residence in New Laguna, N.M.

Jones was stabbed in the chest.

PHOENIX – After pleading guilty, a man was sentenced to 202 months in prison for second degree murder.

On Nov. 14, Kelly Joyce, 38, of Pinon, Ariz., was sentenced by United States District Judge Dominic W. Lanza to 202 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Joyce previously pleaded guilty to second degree murder.

On March 2, 2020, Joyce, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, reportedly shot and killed a victim. The crime occurred in Pinon.

The FBI and the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety conducted the investigation in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Besancon, District of Arizona, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.

PHOENIX – A woman was recently sentenced to 51 months in prison after she allegedly threw a child from a moving vehicle.

Melody Gwen Nez, 32, of Dilkon, Ariz., was sentenced on Nov. 21 by United States District Judge Dominic W. Lanza to 51 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Nez previously pleaded guilty to Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.

For at least several weeks in the summer of 2021, Nez allegedly abused a five-year-old child in her care. One unidentified man was killed during a shooting at the local Pep Boys.

On Dec. 6, around 11:30 am, Gallup Police Officers were dispatched to Pep Boys, 702 U.S. Highway 491, in reference to shots fired.

Patrol officers arrived on scene and found a man who had died from multiple gun shots wounds. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time.

A video from Pep Boys allegedly showed a vehicle that came to the area with multiple individuals that entered the ditch area east of the Flame of Fire church before shots were heard.
