Thief pawns stolen saddle in Albuquerque

A warrant has been issued against a Grants man who is accused of stealing a saddle from a Gallup pawnshop and then pawning it in Albuquerque.

The warrant was issued Monday against Durwin Nelson, 30, at the request of the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, which has been looking for Nelson since April 20 in connection with the theft of a $2,000 saddle from T&R Rope and Feed Store north of Gallup on U.S. Highway 491.

Woman sentenced for manslaughter after drunk driving kills McKinley County man

ALBUQUERQUE — Bryana Agnes Henio, 30, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Little Water, N.M., was sentenced April 25 in federal court in Albuquerque to 37 months in prison for her involuntary manslaughter conviction.  She will be on supervised release for three years after completing her prison sentence.

Henio was arrested in October 2017, on a criminal complaint charging her with involuntary manslaughter.  According to the complaint, Henio killed a man by hitting him with a vehicle on Sept. 8, 2017, on the Navajo Indian Reservation in McKinley County.  At the time Henio ran over the victim, Henio was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police still searching for Washington Federal bank robber

The Gallup Police Department and the FBI are still looking for a man who robbed Washington Federal bank on 221 W. Aztec Ave. April 16.

Gallup Police Department Cap. Marinda Spencer said the man entered the lobby of Washington Federal Bank just after it opened at 9 am and pulled out a gun, demanding money. The man then received an unspecified sum of money and left the bank, heading eastbound on Aztec Avenue.

No one was injured and the entire incident took only a few minutes, said Spencer.

Once he left the bank, he got on a bicycle and headed east, Spencer said.

Gallup Police converged on the area shortly after. Bank officials punched their panic alarm at 9:27 am and began searching...

A Gallup man is facing several felony charges after allegedly stabbing the mother of his children and threatening to kill her.

Thomas Dean Lunsford, 31, has been charged with aggravated battery of a household member, abuse of a child, false imprisonment, and interference with communication in an incident that occurred about 9 am at the Microtel Motel, 3270 West Historic Highway 66.

The victim, whose name has not been released, told Gallup police she had left the motel the night before leaving Lunsford with her three children, who ranged in age from one to four years old.

When she returned the next day to pick them up, she found Lunsford in a bad mood...
