New Mexico must continue to mask up following the release of a Sept. 15 public health order issued by acting Secretary David Scrase, M. D.

Scrase has directed that everyone two years and above should wear a mask or multi-layer cloth face covering indoors, except when eating or drinking until Oct. 15.

Businesses, non profits, houses of worship and other establishments are permitted to put stricter requirements in place.

Gallup Unit Service to hold COVID-19 and flu vaccination event

Gallup Service Unit will host a flu vaccine event at Red Rock Park, 5757 Red Rock Park Drive, Church Rock, on Sept. 25 from 9 am to 4 pm.

The flu vaccine will be available for people 3 years old and older.

The event is for Indian Health Services Beneficiaries only.

First and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine are available for individuals 12 years old and older. First and second doses of the Moderna vaccine are available for individuals 18 years old and older. All individuals under the age of 18 must be with a parent or guardian.

Governor holds health care roundtable in Gallup

During a by-invitation-only meeting Sept. 7, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham talked to Gallup and McKinley County health care officials and local dignitaries about how the region was coping during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The governor and her staff sat down with Gallup Mayor Louis Bonaguidi, Rep. Patty Lundstrom, D-Gallup, Sen. George Muñoz, D-Gallup, Rep. D. Wonda Johnson, D-Rehoboth, and representatives of Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services and the Gallup Indian Medical Center among others.
