Cindy Joe had luck on her side when she stopped in time to avoid a collision with a white Chevy Malibu, parked in the middle of State Highway 602, near Mile Marker 24. When McKinley County Sheriff’s Deputy Johnson Lee approached Degarito, he had to wake him. He reeked of booze, had bloodshot eyes and couldn’t pass the field sobriety tests. The dead giveaway was the open bottle of Miller Light Ultra and open can of Bud Light. He blew a 0.22 and 0.21 during his two breath tests.

Alcohol and high speed combined likely contributed to a rollover accident in Fort Wingate Sept. 12.

It’s unclear the extent of injuries that driver Denise Jewel Bedonie, 22, and the passengers riding in her Chevrolet Impala sustained when she flipped it in Fort Wingate.

According to the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Nacona Clark’s report, Bedonie was traveling southbound on State Highway 400 “at high rate of speed” when she approached a bend and careened between an electric pole and a tree, landing on the vehicle’s roof.

Woman arrested with ‘glass’

Sharon Tolino was charged along with three others, for breaking and entering, at the old Alpine Lumber Mill. The suspect, Tolino, was also charged with possession of a controlled and prohibited substance. Gallup Police Department Officer Chris Molina discovered two other females at the scene. It appeared they had been living there for at least a week. They had a long extension cord for power, and beds. Tolino had a bag of glass that appeared to be Methamphetamine. No one else was at the scene.

William Detwiler of Vanderwagen has struck again. This time while out on bond and awaiting trial for criminal sexual contact with a child and false imprisonment.

This time he was nabbed for alleged enticement of a child, aggravated stalking of a victim under 16 years of age, false imprisonment, battery, and assault Aug. 10.

The previous alleged assault occurred April 21.

In April, Detwiler assaulted a local teen who hopped in his car for a ride. He talked the teen into removing his pants and reportedly fondled the young man. Detwiler posted bond and was released April 22, the following day of his arrest.
