The children’s play was held at The Door Gallup Christian Fellowship Church

The spirit of Christmas is expressed in many ways: through music, through kind gestures, and even through a simple children’s play.

A Despicable Me Christmas was held at The Door Gallup Christian Fellowship Church on Christmas Eve. This was a funny play with a spiritual spin, based on the popular film. Children of the church acted it out for a packed audience.

The play was performed by kids ranging from ages four to 12. A professional set was constructed, with puppets and a black light show also supporting the handful of children dressed in costume singing numbers from the movie.

Navajo Nation offers condolences for Marie Neswood

WINDOW ROCK – On behalf of the 23rd Navajo Nation Council, Speaker LoRenzo Bates (Nenahnezad, Newcomb, San Juan, Tiis Tsoh Sikaad, Tse’Daa’Kaan, Upper Fruitland) offers condolences to the family of former Council Delegate and Navajo District Court Judge Marie Roanhorse Neswood, who passed away on Dec. 24 at the age of 85. She was originally from the community of Crystal, N.M.

“Honorable Marie Neswood represented her community and the entire Navajo Nation with great dignity and pride throughout her lifetime,” Bates said. “Her honorable service will always be remembered and cherished. To her family, we offer our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Mitten Tree warms up hearts, hands of families in need

Gallup keeps its community warm this holiday season with hats, scraves, and mittens

Nothing warms the heart more during the holiday season than giving to those less fortunate. That’s where the Mitten Tree Project, sponsored by the Octavia Fellin Public Library, comes in to help.

A bare tree is set up at the library, where do-gooders then decorate it with donated hats, scarves, and mittens. The donated goods keep coming until the tree is completely crammed. A similiar tree is also set up at the Children’s Branch. All of the practical decorations are gifts from the community, and some pieces are even handmade.
