The Gallup baseball traveling team 6-4-3 Militia, went to Las Cruces on July 3, for competition games.  They began pool play July 4 and 5 and won third place in the Silver Division of the Global World Series out of 21 teams after playing a total of nine games in four days.

This is the second ring they have received as a team.  They also took second place in the Spring League in the St. Patrick’s Tournament in Albuquerque.

The team’s name, 6-4-3, means a double play.  Coach Tommy Gonzales explains that he used ‘Militia’ because it is a show of strength.

The Gallup State Veterans Cemetery had its first burial July 10.  It was a Columbarium interment.

The cemetery, which was opened on Memorial Day, will have 448 gravesites, 140 in-ground cremains burial sites, and 400 columbarium wall crypts. The 2.5-acre site, was funded by a $5.7 million VA Cemetery Program Grant.

It is the second of what will eventually be four state veterans cemeteries built using a State Veterans Cemetery Initiative launched by the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services in 2013 to build cemeteries for rural-area veterans in New Mexico.

The rainbow-colored balloons and painted concrete throughout Window Rock Tribal Park June 29 capped off what Navajo Nation Pride calls the official LGBTQ+ Two-Spirit event for the largest Sovereign Nation in the United States.

June is designated Pride Month, a month where people under the LGBTQ banner remember the Stonewall riots of 1969, which were a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States, as well as people who have been lost to HIV and
AIDS.

Marking year 20, Relay for Life for Gallup McKinley County  2019 drew hundreds of people to remember those taken by cancer and help celebrate survivors. The two-day event was held at the McKinley County Courthouse Square in Gallup June 21 and 22. The occasion was filled with activities, games, and special guests. Included were a scavenger hunt, Zumba, an auction, and raffles with a number of prizes including a Jeep Cherokee, two first-class, round trip tickets to anywhere in the world, or $5,000.
