Grants PD asks for public’s help
The FBI and Grants Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the “Black Cap Bandit,” who is responsible for a bank robbery that happened on June 7.
At approximately 2:22 pm, an unknown man entered the Wells Fargo at 201 N. First St. in Grants. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. The robber received an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank.
The suspect is described as a Native American man in his mid 20s, approximately 5’ 7” to 5’ 9,” and approximately 160 lbs. He was wearing a black baseball cap with an unknown white logo on it, a black sweater, a light colored surgical mask, blue jeans, and black shoes.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect.
Bank robbery carries a possible prison term of up to 20 years. The use of a gun, other dangerous weapon, toy gun, or hoax bomb device during the commission of a bank robbery can be punishable by a prison term of up to 25 years.
