Dear Editor,
I feel it necessary to clarify for the voters some misinformation being presented during this election campaign. Based on a recent Gallup Independent candidate profile and other public events and published postings, it would seem that my Democratic opponent is confused as to what the duties of the Treasurer actually include and what the office controls as far as finances go. First let it be known that while any resident of Cibola County can make suggestions as to where money should be spent, the Treasurer has NO official capacity to authorize infrastructure spending on its own. My opponent has allegedly been telling some constituents that he would fix roads if elected and...

An analysis of District 3 contenders
April 10, 2016Regarding the upcoming District 3 County Commission election I have had a lot of interesting Q&A sessions with several people.
The question most people have on their mind is who does it really come down? Most people think it is between David Dallago and Bill Lee.
With these two it comes down to people already know them City wide and already know whether or not the like them or not.
Like or not you have to give David Dallago the edge in experience over all the candidates – he ran the County for eight years – he knows the County government, he is a Civil Engineer and he is a smart guy.

County premature to hire new manager during election season

On Tuesday, April 5, 2016 the County Commissioners is meeting in closed session on what to do to fill the County Manager position after Bill Lee leaves in May 2016 to run for the District 3 County Commissioner position.
Here is what I think. Simply appoint an Acting County Manager for the rest of the year. When I become County Manager in August 2011 the County had been on auto-pilot with Acting CM’s for 9 months.
In August 2011 we had: Doug at Attorney – Dez as HR Director – Sara Keeler as Finance Director – Theresa Diaz as Head of Purchasing and Procurement – Bernice Martinez – As Head of Grants Management – Mario Gomez as Acting Roads...
