Editor,
Winter is in full effect at Standing Rock North Dakota. The Water Protectors at Oceti Sakowin are working tirelessly to create temporary homes for the thousands of elders, families and Water Protectors there willing to freeze rather than abandon this sacred land and our plight for our planet. They have been working...
Letters to the Editor
Meet Cibola County Commissioner Candidate Robert S. Windhorst
Dear Editor,
When I first got involved in Cibola County Politics it was in 2013. I decided that I would run for Magistrate Judge in a Democrat bastion! My opinion has always been that no one Party, or individual, has all the answers, I believe that it takes everyone working together to make things work. I also believe that choice is an important part of our Democracy. Without choice our society loses the ability for real change.
As the Chairman of the Cibola County Republican Party for the past twenty-one months, I have opened the doors of our monthly meetings to all people from both the Republican and Democratic Party. We have had appointed leaders an elected officials speak and it...

Ramirez ‘Big Break’ story correction
In regards to last week’s story of ‘Big Break’ in Vol. 2 Issue 82, Friday Oct. 29, I want to make it perfectly clear that although we do appreciate the $12 a night discount for four nights at the Red Roof Inn, 3304 W. Hwy, Mr. Yogash Kumar gave to us the week of Sept. 19 / Sept. 22 in no way shape or form has Mr. Kumar helped us in any other way, especially financially or with temporary housing which was stated in this issue of the Gallup Sun. The stay was not free and he is not assisting or providing temporary housing for myself and my family. We would like to thank the community, friends, and family for their support, donations and prayers during this difficult time. We do have a...
Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor,
In recent months, the consideration for obtaining curbside recycling has continued.
Currently, the city of Gallup has started staffing the recycling drop off centers with expanded hours. This has made recycling in Gallup more convenient to the public and is a positive step. The August non-binding referendum saw a favorable vote for curbside recycling with an added fee tacked on to their monthly utility bill.
McKinley Citizens’ Recycling Council continues to educate the public on the value of curbside residential recycling and has initiated a petition drive to place a binding commitment on curbside recycling on the March 2017 ballot.
This petition is for placing an...

Letter to the editor: Expulsion of drunks, not jail
If WE choose to ignore reality and simply go about our own business, reality has a way of hitting us in the face. The governor and Mr. Munoz are dead set on l-o-n-g-e-r sentences for the problem drunks. Reality tell’s us that the drunk population will continue to grow eternally. longer sentences and a never ending supply of problem drunk’s would mean that the tax payer’s would N-E-V-E-R stop paying for all of the medical, dental and eye glass needs, shelter, utilities, beds, clothing, shoes, food and eventually all burial expenses, of ALL of these problem drunks.
