Man from McKinley County pleads guilty to federal assault charges
ALBUQUERQUE – Vinson Six, 39, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Smith Lake, N.M., pled guilty today in federal court to assault charges.
Six was arrested on Dec. 13, 2017, on a three-count indictment charging him with assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and robbery. According to the indictment, Six committed the crimes on April 14, 2016, on the Navajo Indian Reservation in McKinley County, N.M.

ALBUQUERQUE — Alton Jay Cowboy, 48, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Crownpoint, N.M., pleaded guilty April 5, in federal court in Albuquerque, to violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
SORNA, also known as the Adam Walsh Protection and Safety Act, requires that a convicted sex offender registers in each jurisdiction where the offender resides, where the offender is employed, or where the offender is a student and that the sex offender maintains current registrations.

Man shot in foot during robbery
The McKinley County Sheriff’s Office is looking for three Native American men who participated in the break-in of a home in Gamerco and shot one of the occupants in the foot.
The incident occurred around 1 am April 11.
Andrew Howe, 27, who lives on Cascade Street in Gamerco, said he and Ashley Tom, 21, along with other members of the family, were up when someone knocked on the front door. As he answered it, he peeked out the door and was shot in the right foot.
Three individuals then came inside. One of them carried a gun. Howe said he fell to the ground as one of the men demanded whatever he had in his pockets. Howe told him he didn’t have anything. He said he them heard someone...

A McKinley County Sheriff’s deputy stepped in and put out several brush fires discovered near the Cedar Ridge Trailer Park.
Dep. Salina Brown said she was on patrol around 5 pm when she came across a man and woman near the trailer park pouring bottles of water on a brush fire. They told Brown they had just driven up and saw the fire, which they thought may have been caused by someone throwing a cigarette out of their car window.
Brown said she reported the incident to Metro Dispatch as she pulled out her fire extinguisher from the back of her unit and started using it on the fire. As the man and woman left the scene, they pointed out...
