New McKinley County work hours come March: 7 am to 6 pm Mondays - Thursdays

The McKinley County Board of Commissioners approved a four-day work week venture at its Jan. 3 regular meeting.

The measure was met with some skepticism by newly-elected commissioner Bill Lee who argued that there are people who frequent Gallup specifically on Friday – some of whom do business with the county on that specific day.

The vote to convert to the new work plan was 2-1. Lee dissented and commissioners Genevieve Jackson and Carol Bowman-Muskett said yes.

Streamlining state veterans’ home to improve services

SANTA FE – The Department of Veterans Services and the Department of Health proposed streamlining the State Veterans’ Home in Truth or Consequences to improve services for New Mexico’s veterans Jan. 5.

The proposal, if approved by the legislature, will move management of the State Veterans’ Home from DOH to DVS, aligning both state and federal resources to better serve veterans.

BLM New Mexico to hold first online fed oil, gas lease sale

The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office will hold its quarterly oil and gas lease sale using the internet-based auction system EnergyNet Jan. 25.

The sale was  originally scheduled for Jan. 18, but has been rescheduled for Jan. 25.  Beginning at 9 am MST, each parcel will have its own unique open bidding period, with the complete bidding process expected to last a total of 3 hours.
