Multiple passengers had to be rescued by fire department crews following a two-vehicle crash on June 24.

Crew C of the Gallup Fire Department responded to Interstate 40 near the 20 mile marker after the crash was reported. When they arrived, they found a black semi truck on its side with the driver trapped inside. The truck was blocking multiple lanes of traffic.

The GFD crew were able to extricate the driver through the roof of the truck. The driver reportedly didn’t have any injuries. The truck wasn’t carrying any hazardous materials.

The second vehicle in the crash was a silver SUV. Medstar staff transported two people from the vehicle to a local hospital.
