In Loving Memory: Eric Norman Van Hartesveldt

Eric Norman Van Hartesveldt, of Gallup, died June 5. He was 70.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 26, 1953.

Eric is survived by Elizabeth (Betsy) Windisch, his wife of 46 years; his son Peter Nathaniel Van Hartesveldt; his daughter, Kyna Wade; his sisters, Linda and Marcia Van Hartesveldt; his brother Fred Van Hartesveldt III; and four grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at The McKinley Wildlife Federation Building in McGaffey on June 29 at 1 pm.

Louie Anthony Leyba was born on Aug. 24, 1945, in Gallup and entered eternal rest on Jan. 19. He was 78 years old.

Louie was a lifelong resident of Gallup. He loved cooking, doing DIY projects, and spending time with his family. He is loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Leyba; his children Madeline Leyba (Jeff Bond), Paulette Diaz, and Vanessa Duckett (Richy); his grandchildren Jeffrey Benham, Katia Bond, Isaac Day, Aaron Diaz, Jesse Duckett; his great grandchildren; Jacob Benham, Jonah Benham, Asher Day, Chevelle Duckett; and his sisters Maria Rios and Debbie Soto.

John Wesley Rains, of Gallup, died March 9. He was 79.

He was born in Gallup on July 30, 1943.

John was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph Rains and Katherine (Kozeliski) Mataya; and his sister, Mary (Rains) Montano of Lakeside, Ariz; his brother, Ralph Rains of Gallup; and his sister Susan (Rains) Bridges of Albuquerque.

He is survived by Charles Mataya of Gallup; Ralph Montano of Sacramento, Calif; Angela (Montano) Savage of Pa’auilo, Hawaii; Monica (Bridges) Manginell of Albuquerque; Joyce Bridges of Rio Rancho, N.M.; Wayne Montano of Hedgesville, W. Va.; Ana (Mataya) Hudgeons of Gallup; and Matthew Mataya of Albuquerque.

He was born in Gallup on Sept. 4, 1947.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph Rains and Katherine (Kozeliski) Mataya; and his sister, Mary (Rains) Montano of Lakeside, Ariz.

He was followed in death by his sister Susan (Rains) Bridges of Albuquerque and brother John Rains of Gallup.
