The A-Team meeting on Jan. 22 at the ole 2nd Street Fire Station was very informative for those in attendance. Every veteran is welcome to attend these mostly administrative gatherings.
The main topic of the discussion on this day was the ability of veterans to take better care of themselves. Some do, but the majority doesn’t. Ensuring that veterans continue to receive the healthcare promised
Congressional Research Service, which provides analysis for Congress, issued a 2003 report that found veterans were not entitled to free medical care for life, even though they may have been promised exactly that by their recruiters.
Since 1956, veterans and their families can be treated at military medical facilities “subject to the availability of space and facilities and the capabilities of the medical and dental staff,” the report found.

Clarence Gallegos represented Eagle Talon, LLC, connecting veterans with disabilities to services at the NM Division of Vocational Rehab, while Felicia Adams spoke for her campaign to replace State Senator George Munoz. Marian Saucedo Hall brought in one of her artists, a woodcarver, from the LBM Rec Center to display his work, Brian Lee spoke as a representative for U.S. Representative Ben Lujan, and Martin Link closed out the speakers with an update on the Gallup Museum of Military History.
