NM State Forestry Division provides June 24 update on South Fork, Salt fires
According to a press release published by the New Mexico Forestry Division, 37% of the South Fork fire has been contained, while 7% of the Salt fire has been contained.
All evacuations have been lifted. Tribal members who have been displaced outside of the Mescalero Apache Reservation due to the fires are strongly encouraged to contact the tribe's Emergency Operations Center to help them and their families get back to the reservation. According to a press release published by the New Mexico Forestry Division, 23 crews have responded to the fire. Ninety-four engines are being used to combat the fire, and over 1,100 firefighters are on the scene.
