Record spring heat sends over 50 New Mexicans to ERs with heat-related illnesses
Since April 1 there have been at least 51 heat-related visits to emergency departments across New Mexico. As temperatures are expected to climb to the mid to upper 90s in Roswell and Carlsbad and remain in the low 90s in Las Cruces during the week of May 27, the New Mexico Department of Health is urging residents to take precautions to stay cool. The eastern part of the state will also experience high temperatures, reaching the upper 80s to 90°F.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation published a press release on May 17 informing New Mexicans, political candidates, and vendors that state law prohibits any person from placing, maintaining, or displaying unauthorized signs upon any state right-of-way.
New Mexico Criminal and Traffic Law 66-7-108, under the title “Display of Unauthorized Signs, Signals and Markings,” states specifically, no political sign postings are allowed on state-maintained rights-of-way, which are typically defined by fencing on rural routes and to the back of the curb on urban route.

Farmington High School graduate told to remove Native American beaded graduation cap
FARMINGTON, N.M. — People took to social media to voice their outrage after a Farmington High School graduate was told to remove her cap, which was adorned with Native American beading and a feather during the school’s graduation ceremony on May 13.
The student is 17-year-old Genesis White Bull.
