Recognizing ‘the Legend’

A legend has died, or rather, “The Legend” has died.
This was the moniker given to Juan Delgado around Gallup. In an interview with the Sun, Tim Delgado, Juan’s youngest son, explained how his father earned that name.
“A lot of people called him ‘The Legend’ because he did everything. There wasn’t a lot that my dad did not do,” Tim said. “When he applied himself and did something he was really good at it. He took on things that people thought were impossible.”
EARLY LIFE
Juan was born on Jan. 25, 1931, in Winslow, Ariz. He was three months old when his family moved to Gallup.

Film Prize Jr. launches third year in New Mexico

Last year, the program grew by 55%, featuring 93 student films from over 50 schools in 20 NM counties. All of the films were featured on the big screen at their festival at the Albuquerque Convention Center in April 2023.
Students compete for scholarships and media grants in categories such as comedy, drama, thriller, animations, and documentary.

ZART shines the spotlight on Zuni art

For Zuni artists, that’s changing. The Keshi Foundation, which opened a Zuni gallery in Santa Fe decades ago, opened the Zuni Artist Resource Team at 120 W. Coal Ave. in early August. The Gallup site is open Tuesdays through Fridays and will be open during ArtsCrawl events.
