CROWNPOINT — Navajo Technical University announced its Spring 2024 graduating class on May 10. This event marked a milestone for the graduates and highlighted NTU’s enduring commitment to blending Western education with traditional Diné teachings.
During the commencement ceremony, NTU President Dr. Elmer Guy expressed his pride in the graduates’ achievements.
“We are NTU, and we are proud of every one of you," he stated. "You are an essential part of a community that strongly believes in the power of education to transform lives, families, and communities. You are also a significant contributor to the legacy of Navajo leaders, scholars, and visionaries who have substantially impacted globally."
Council Delegate Andy Nez (Crystal, Fort Defiance, Red Lake, Sawmill) also congratulated the NTU Class of 2024 on behalf of the 25th Navajo Nation Council, emphasizing the graduates’ role in community development.
“On behalf of the 25th Navajo Nation Council and on behalf of the Speaker, the Health Education Human Services, and my team, we congratulate each and every one of you for your job well done," Nez said. "Go after whatever pursuits you have, whatever inspires you. Make an effort to provide and give back to our communities and to give back to yourself."
The ceremony concluded with the Honorable JoAnn Jayne, Chief Justice of the Navajo Nation, delivering congratulatory remarks, echoing the sentiments of pride and achievement.
As the graduates stepped into the world beyond NTU, they carried with them not only their degrees but also the responsibility to act as ambassadors of change. These new alumni are equipped to bring positive transformations in their communities and beyond, continuing the legacy of their forbearers.
