Alleged abuser arrested outside of Gallup Indian Medical Center

A man was charged with child abuse when he got into a fight with a minor outside of the Gallup Indian Medical Center.

On Jan. 9, around 8:45 pm, Gallup Police Officer Jarad Albert was dispatched to GIMC,  516 E. Nizhoni Blvd., when two men began fighting outside the hospital. When Albert arrived at the scene, he met the two men who were fighting. One was identified as a minor, and the other was identified as Fernando Largo.

Attempted break-in, assault at City Hall

A man tried to break into City Hall, and is now facing multiple charges

Around 5:30 pm, on Dec. 3, Gallup Police Officer Darius Johnson, was dispatched to City Hall, 110 W. Aztec Ave. When he arrived at the scene, he found two security guards trying to hold on to a man who was later identified as Jacob Antone.

When Johnson spoke to the security guards, one of them explained that he was sitting inside City Hall at the security guard desk when he heard a window shatter. He ran outside and confirmed that a window had been broken. That’s when he saw Antone, 32, walking away from the building.

The security guard said he told Antone to stop, but that’s when Antone tried to punch him...

Aggravated DWI (Third)

A Thoreau man, Kyle Mariano, 28, allegedly drove recklessly near the New Mexico State Police station at 4200 E. Hwy. 66 and was eventually arrested for his third DWI.

The first calling party informed Metro Dispatch they saw the suspect vehicle, a gray Buick Electra, driving westbound on Highway 66 near Fire Rock Casino and swerving across the roadway. A second caller told Dispatch they saw the suspect vehicle continuing to swerve as it passed the state police station.

Gallup, July 1

A man named Winfred Nelson allegedly punched another man in the face when he wouldn’t share his drink.

On July 1, around 2 pm, Gallup Police Officer Ryan Boucher was dispatched to Andy’s Trading at 612 W. Wilson Ave. when someone called in saying that a man was at the store and his nose was bleeding.

When Boucher arrived at the scene, he met the victim, who was bleeding heavily from his nose, and had blood on his shirt. According to Boucher’s report, the man appeared to be highly intoxicated.

The victim explained he’d been drinking with Nelson, 52, and while they’d been sharing drinks, there came a point when he didn’t want to share anymore...
