Man leaves scene of car accident after allegedly injuring two people

A man named Brandon Barbone has been charged with careless driving, great bodily harm by vehicle, and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident.

On Jan. 28 Gallup Police Officer Timothy Hughte was dispatched to the intersection of Highway 66 and Armand Ortega Boulevard in response to a vehicle that had reportedly hit a pole.

When he arrived at the scene, Hughte saw the vehicle pushed up against the southeast traffic light of the intersection.

He met with the two people who were still in the vehicle. According to Hughte’s report,  the man was wedged between the front passenger seat and the dashboard. The woman in the backseat had a large cut on her forehead.

Church Rock man arrested for breaking restraining order, stalking NMSP officer

A man was arrested after he reportedly showed up to a New Mexico State Police Officer’s home and started verbally assaulting her.

On Jan. 27, around 8:45 am, Metro Dispatch received a call from a New Mexico State Police Officer who was requesting law enforcement come to her residence at 325 ½ Marguerite St. to talk to a man she claimed was stalking her. The woman said that the man, who was later identified as Justin Hollowell, was parked outside her house and was honking his car’s horn. The woman said she had a court order stating that Hollowell, 35, from Church Rock, wasn’t supposed to be around her.

Two arrested for gas station murder

Two men were charged on Feb. 6 with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and two counts of tampering with evidence after they allegedly stabbed a man to death.

According to the arrest affidavit, trouble started brewing at a local bar in the early morning hours of Feb. 4.

Bryland Skeets, 33, Lindy Billy III, 23, and a woman were knocking back some drinks at Sports Page Lounge, 1400 S. Second St. The three of them were reportedly “pretty” drunk, and were arguing, according to the affidavit.

Man arrested for child abuse after driving recklessly

Orlando Smith was doing donuts in a movie theater parking lot with a child in the backseat when police made contact with him.

On Jan. 30, around 6:15 pm, Gallup Police Officer Julio Yazzie was on patrol near Red Rock 10 Theater, 3711 Church Rock St., when he noticed a gray Dodge Ram truck spinning the tires and going in circles in the empty lot. Yazzie saw the vehicle leave the parking lot, and he began to follow it.
