Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a statement May 5  in recognition of National Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day:

Not Invisible Act Commission to hold a public hearing

WINDOW ROCK, ARIZ. — Members of the 25th Navajo Nation Council will attend a meeting and public hearing hosted by the Not Invisible Act Commission May 9. The public hearing will focus on developing recommendations to guide Congress and federal agencies on how to best combat the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous peoples and human trafficking.

The Council is encouraging members of the Navajo Nation to participate in the public hearing at Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort, located approximately 24 miles east of Flagstaff, Ariz. Zuni man pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter

A Zuni man has pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter after he reportedly killed a man and buried him in a shallow grave in a friend's backyard.

According to his plea agreement, Brian Wallace, an enrolled member of the Zuni Pueblo,  admitted that he killed a man sometime between July 5  and Aug. 9, and buried him in a shallow grave in the backyard of a friend’s house. In October, Wallace, 44,  informed law enforcement of what had happened and where the man's body was located. The body was recovered and the Office of Medical Investigator determined that the victim had died from blunt force trauma to his chest.

The latest in man’s list of violent charges

A man with multiple criminal charges was on his last chance before he decided to bash a man over the head with a beer glass at a local restaurant. That decision led to the district attorney getting involved and not letting him out of jail until his trial date.

On March 1, around 12 am, Gallup Police Officer Ryan Boucher was dispatched to Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital after a caller said a man identified as Terry Radosevich hit him with a glass. According to Boucher’s report, the victim was en route to the hospital as he was making the call.
