From May 20 through June 2 the New Mexico State Police participated in the National Occupant Protection Mobilization, Click it or Ticket Campaign. The CIOT Campaign was conducted on all roadways within the state with an emphasis on seat belt use for both drivers and passengers.

An employee at a local fast-food restaurant reported a suspected drunk driver, leading to the arrest of a Rehoboth woman, Natasha Nez, 38.

Gallup Patrolman Alana Bradley was dispatched to the Taco Bell at 914 E. Hwy. 66 after receiving the report of the suspect going in the drive thru. She arrived at the scene and saw a vehicle matching the caller description leaving the restaurant and driving eastbound.

The FBI and Rio Rancho Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the "Tan/Gray Pants Bandit," who is wanted for multiple bank robberies in the Rio Rancho and surrounding area. He robbed the Washington Federal Bank, 2518 Southern Blvd SE Rio Rancho, at approximately 4:25 pm on May 3.

The suspect has been described as a white man who is approximately five feet and seven inches tall with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a blue hat, a black face mask, a black long sleeve shirt, grey skinny pants, and glasses.

Suspect involved in Clovis double homicide, abduction appears in federal court

A Houston man who reportedly killed two women and abducted a 10-month old child in Clovis, New Mexico on May 3 appeared in front of a federal judge on May 29.

Alek Isaiah Collins, 26, appeared before a federal judge in Albuquerque on May 29 for arraignment on an indictment charging him with kidnapping of a minor and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence in connection with the double homicide of two female victims. Collins was detained pending trial, which has not yet been scheduled.

New Mexico State Police participate in C.A.R.E. operation

During the Memorial Day holiday, the New Mexico State Police participated in the Combined Accident Reduction Effort operation across all roadways within the state.  The goal of the traffic initiative is to increase motorist safety and reduce the number of crashes through a strong law enforcement presence.

Due to the increased volume of traffic during the holiday, NMSP increased its patrol presence during this initiative on roadways throughout all State Police districts on the busiest travel days of the Memorial Day weekend.

The operation resulted in State Police officers issuing over 3,600 traffic citations (250 of which were for lack of seat belt usage) and arresting 32 drunk drivers...
