Arizona man threatens people with gun in Sports Page parking lot

A man from Ganado, Ariz., is facing charges after he reportedly waved a gun around in the Sports Page Lounge parking lot.

On July 15, around 11:15 pm, Gallup Police Officers Patrick Largo and Jerald Watchman were dispatched to the bar at 1400 S. Second St. after callers reported a man waving a gun around.

A man from Round Rock, Arizona, Tyrus Johnson, 43, was turned away at a liquor store and subsequently arrested and charged with his third DWI.

New Mexico State Police Officer Joe Roanhorse was patrolling on Highway 264 when Metro Dispatch advised him of a suspected drunk driver who had departed from Sagebrush Liquors after being denied service and was seen leaving westbound on Highway 264.

A Vanderwagen man, Duane Francisco, 38, was arrested and charged with his third DWI after he was seen stumbling out of his vehicle.

New Mexico State Police Officer Joe Roanhorse was on patrol near the Speedway station at 701 U.S. Hwy. 491 when he saw a white Toyota Tundra pull into the lot and park near one of the gas pumps. Two males exited the vehicle and walked away from the lot heading southbound. Roanhorse saw a third male, later identified as Francisco, emerge from the front passenger seat and move toward the driver’s seat.

Stabbing outside of local Walmart

An Albuquerque man named Waylon Murphy reportedly stabbed a man in a Gallup Walmart parking lot on June 30.

Around 11:30 am, Gallup Police were called out to the Walmart at 1650 W. Maloney Ave. after a 40-year-old Las Cruces man was stabbed in the chest.

When officers arrived at the scene they found the victim lying on the ground holding a shirt to his chest. He said that he knew the man who stabbed him as 33-year-old Murphy.

The victim said he was walking to the store’s restrooms when Murphy ran up behind him and stabbed him in the chest.

A vehicle crash left a Gallup man, Austin Evans, 25, with minor injuries and a third DWI charge.

Gallup Officer Elijah Bowman was dispatched to 1414 S. Grandview Dr. after a caller advised Metro Dispatch they saw a gray truck collide with another vehicle at the scene. Bowman arrived and found a Ford Escape in the roadway facing south with heavy front-end damage.
