A Smith Lake driver, Marcia Whitehorse, 39, tried to pass through a DWI Task Force checkpoint and ended up being arrested and charged with her third DWI.

New Mexico State Police Officer Joe Roanhorse was working a McKinley County Task Force Checkpoint near mile marker 5.5 of Highway 371 in Thoreau. A white Toyota Yaris pulled into the checkpoint, and when Roanhorse went to speak to the driver he reportedly noticed the odor of an intoxicating liquor in the vehicle.

Roanhorse also noted an open container of Budweiser behind the front passenger seat. The driver, Whitehorse, produced a New Mexico ID...

The Gallup Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating Casey Gene Lee. Lee is 59 years old and from Window Rock, Arizona.

Lee is six feet tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He has brown eyes and black and white hair. He was last seen wearing a light green jacket, blue jeans, and brown boots.  He has a tattoo on his left arm with his name and “Antalena” along with a heart and rose.

He was last seen leaving Gallup Indian Medical Center during the evening of Sept. 12.

His destination and travel method are unknown, but he is believed to be in the Gallup area.

Anyone with any information regarding this Silver Alert is asked to contact the Gallup Police Department...

A Church Rock man has been charged with sexual assault after he reportedly had sexual encounters with multiple minors.

According to court documents, between January 2014 and April of 2022, Nathaniel Luz allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a child who had not reached the age of 12 five separate times. Then, between January 2021 and December 2021, 31-year-old Luz, a registered member of the Navajo Nation, allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a second victim, a child who had also not reached the age of 12 years. Lastly, in August 2022, Luz allegedly engaged in a sexual act with a third victim, a child who was older than 12 but not yet 16.

A woman from Shiprock, N.M. has pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and assault after she reportedly crashed into another vehicle while she was driving drunk. She killed the mother in the other vehicle and injured a young man.

According to court documents, Courtney Frank operated a motor vehicle on Sept. 28 without due caution and circumspection and with a wanton and reckless disregard for human life when she knew and should have known that her conduct imperiled the lives of others. Frank, 19, was allegedly driving drunk and  crashed her car head-on into a car driven by a mother and son, killing the mother and injuring the son.
