Gallup Police Department responded to a call about a woman found unconscious in a field, north of Magic Car Wash on West Jefferson Avenue Oct. 14. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pinnacle Bank Robber Wanted

Despite solid images of the suspect’s face and tattoos, the man that robbed Pinnacle Bank east is still at large.

Pinnacle Bank on 1804 E. Aztec Ave was robbed at 10:37 am Sept. 25. Gallup Police Department Capt. Rick White said that witnesses described the suspect as a Hispanic male with a mustache in his early twenties, between 5’7” - 5’8” tall, and medium build.

TRAILER ON FIRE

Thoreau, 10/11

McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Roxanne King was dispatched to a call of an abandoned trailer on fire on Frontier Street in Thoreau, shortly after 9 pm. According to the deputy’s report, Thoreau Fire Department Commander Jake Laroy said the fire started in the living room. The caller who reported the fire stated that she noticed a white pickup truck in the area, and didn’t notice anyone on foot in the area.

McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy T. Bowman pulled over Jones after a short stop-and-go pursuit on U.S. Route 491. Bowman stated in his reported that he pulled Jones over because she was swerving and he noticed that she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

Jones was reported saying: “I am just going home,” and that she lived over the hill. She claimed to have an ankle injury, but took the field sobriety test. She blew a .30 and  .31 during her two breath tests.

Former bail bondsman busted for trafficking

A five month long, joint investigation between McKinley County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI resulted in the arrest of former bail bondsman Billie Cotton.

MCSO lead narcotics investigator Pat Salazar said the the arrest and search warrants were served at Cotton’s home on 404 Zane St. at 6:45 am Oct. 12.

“We found six stolen firearms and three altered firearms,” he said.

Salazar said the altered firearms were immediately taken into evidence He explained that adding a silencer or altering a gun to make it to fire faster are common modifications.

Cotton, 58, was booked into the McKinley County Adult Detention Center for trafficking and federal gun charges. He’s currently being...
