Aggravated DWI

Murillo, 23, passed out with his vehicle running at the Dead Horse Mustang in Churchrock. McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Arnold Noriega stated in his report that Murillo “noticed there to be several bottles of beer in the center console of the vehicle,” with one opened. When Noriega asked for Murillo to put the open the door, he put the vehicle in drive. He had to be extracted through the passenger door. His two breath sample read .17.

Local man arrested for Arson, burglary

Michael Roper of Gallup didn’t take the news well when he was terminated from his job at the Red Lion Oct. 27.

According to Gallup Police Department Sgt. Rosanne Kavzlarich, Roper, 33, came back to the hotel about an hour after being laid off and boldly stole money from the company safe, absconding with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Next, he went upstairs and set one of the rooms on fire. On his way out, he reportedly told one of the workers to call the fire department.

According to the criminal complaint, filed in Magistrate Court Oct. 29, Roper is being charged with arson and it’s noted that the fire he set caused more than $2,500 worth of damages that doesn’t exceed...

Chinle bank robber in custody

CHINLE, Ariz.– The suspect who robbed the Chinle Wells Fargo yesterday morning was taken into Federal custody at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26. Police also recovered the vehicle that was used in the robbery.

On Oct. 26 at approximately 10:51 am, Chinle Police Department (PD) received a call from a Wells Fargo employee stating that the bank had just been robbed. Chinle PD responded. Officer Carlton Jim and Lt. Dempsey Harvey were first on the scene.

Information from the crime scene indicated that a bank robber had gotten away with over $1,800 dollars. A description of the vehicle involved was given as a red Ford Explorer with New Mexico state license plates. The vehicle fled southbound...

Man in critical condition post stabbing

Ryan Plummer was critically injured after being stabbed in the abdomen by one of two men that accosted him while he and a female friend headed southbound on the 700 block of South Second Street Oct. 27.

It’s not clear what prompted the stabbing, but after exchanging some words, Plummer, 30, reportedly tried to grab a knife from the man’s hands and got jabbed in the process.

Police arrived at the 714 S. Second St. at 7:48 pm – the location of Gallup Business Systems.

Plummer’s friend described the two Native American males as being between 18-20 years of age. She told police that the men, who neither her nor Plummer apparently knew, crossed the street and confronted the duo...
