SECOND UPDATE: UNM’s electric contractor has deemed it safe for the water distribution crew to continue work. The water line is expected to be repaired by 9 pm July 12.

UPDATE: Although the water outage was reportedly supposed to be done by 2:30 am on July 11, the City of Gallup's Water Department issued an extension on it at 2 pm July 11.

The extended water outage will now last until 5 pm on July 12.

The extended outage is due to an unmarked electric line that was hit in the process of excavation. This unmarked electrical underground line belongs to the University of New Mexico and is not associated with City of Gallup Electric Department. The water department is on stand by until the electrical line has been repaired and deemed safe.

An unscheduled water outage that will affect parts of Gurley Avenue and Peggy Ann Drive will start at 7:30 pm on June 10 and is scheduled to last until 2:30 am on July 11.

The outage will affect City of Gallup Water customers in the following areas:

  • 700-900 blocks of Gurley Ave.
  • 2200 block of Peggy Ann Dr.
The city's water department will be making repairs to a broken water line in the area. They will need to temporarily shut down water service while they complete the work. Once the work has been performed, the water service will be restored.

Surrounding areas may experience low water pressure.
