A woman is facing both assault and battery charges after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a baseball bat.

Gallup Police Officer Ryan Boucher was dispatched to the house at 202 Church Rock Pl. after a woman who was later identified as Sunshine Krouth punched her boyfriend in the face.

According to Boucher’s report, the calling party told Metro Dispatch that she let her son and his girlfriend Krouth, 30, stay at her home sometimes, and they had gotten into an argument.

When Boucher arrived at the scene, he met with the victim, who had blood on his face and lips. He was also reportedly holding a blood-stained cloth to his nose.

The victim said the fight began when he was laying on his bed in his room and Krouth suddenly entered the room. She began yelling at him, saying he wasn’t giving her any attention.

Krouth allegedly hit the victim in the face twice before he began defending himself. The victim said he was eventually able to grab Krouth’s arms and hold her down to prevent her from hitting him. But when he let her go, Krouth she grabbed a wooden baseball bat.

The victim said he was afraid Krouth was going to hit him with the bat, so he went into another room and locked the door behind him.

The victim’s mother said she wasn’t home at the time of the incident, but Krouth had called her and told her she needed to come home because she and the victim “were arguing.” When the victim’s mother returned to the residence she found her son bleeding from the mouth, and she told Krouth she had to leave. Krouth reportedly gathered her things and walked to her car.

Boucher tried to find the bat but couldn’t find it after checking Krouth’s vehicle and the house. Krouth was arrested for battery and assault against a household member and transported to the McKinley County Adult Detention Center. Her preliminary examination is scheduled for Jan. 31.
