GFD responds to south side fire

Print

In the early morning hours of April 27, Crew A of the Gallup Fire Department was dispatched to a facility on the south side of town after a report came in about a fire alarm going off. Upon arrival they met a key holder for the building who gave them to access to the inside. Upon entering, the firefighters found smoke inside of the building and the fire alarm system was showing a possible fire in the electrical room.

At the same time other crews were conducting a walk around of the buildingĀ and found a fire on the outside of the building next to the wall. The buildings ventilation system had pulled the smoke into the building activating the fire alarm.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and noticed the wall was hot to the touch and the thermal imaging camera showed high heat inside of the wall. Crews had to make an opening in the wall so they could extinguish the smoldering structural members.
