One dies in I-40 semi-truck crash

A semi-truck driver was declared dead after he rolled his truck while traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 Feb. 22.

New Mexico State Police investigated the crash that occurred at about 5:15 am, near mile marker 65, east of Prewitt. N.M.

The initial investigation revealed that the semi-truck was driven by Craig R. Wendt, 34, of Goodyear, Ariz.

According to a New Mexico State Police news release, Wendt swerved, entered the median, and then rolled. He was fatally injured, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

The news release also states that alcohol wasn’t a factor, and Wendt was wearing his seatbelt.
