New Officers Join Grants Law Enforcement Agencies

GRANTS – Cibola County law enforcement agencies added three new officers or deputies this week. All three graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy in Santa Fe May 18.

Grants Police department gained Grants native Officer Katelyn Duran, formerly Detective Secretary for the department, and Officer Daniel Martinez. Martinez comes in as a new officer after spending time in the field with currently-serving GPD officers.

Cibola County Sheriff’s Office brings on Deputy Kimery Ward, 35. Ward served the CCSO as Court Security Officer. beginning in December 2016, before passing the test for the position of deputy and later attending the Basic Police Academy. Cibola County Sheriff Tony Mace said Ward graduated in the top 85 percent of his class.

The Cibola County Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting. Because of recent retirements, three positions are open. Mace said the department offers competitive pay and benefits. Contact the CCSO for more information.
