The previous week was busier than usual as both local law enforcement agencies kept on the go for the entire week. The following is a list of that activity.

Local writers pen book on Gallup’s notable denizens

Gallup Independent Elizabeth Hardin-Burrola didn’t set out to write the book, “Legendary Locals of Gallup.”

Instead, it came about like one of those things that fall into place and blossom given the right opportunity – by happenstance, one could say.

Hardin-Burrola was approached by Arcadia Publishing, based out of Charleston, South Carolina, about three years ago, give or take, to pen a book highlighting the people that make Gallup special. It’s part of Arcadia’s “legendary locals” series of books.

AG: Cash your ‘National Mortgage Settlement’ checks now

REFUND ALERT

ALBUQUEQUE – Attorney General Hector Balderas announced Aug. 10 that 192 New Mexico homeowners still need to cash their National Mortgage Settlement checks, and that a letter was sent to them on July 28, 2017 from Rust Consulting, Inc. instructing them how to request a new check if they did not previously receive one. Checks must be cashed, or a new check must be requested, before August 25, 2017or the funds will be transferred to the State of New Mexico.
