New Mexico journalists shouldn’t feel too upset that Gov. Susana Martinez’s office doesn’t return phone calls or emails—the governor reportedly did the same to Donald Trump’s campaign manager.

That’s part of a story in The New York Times about how Trump came to choose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.

A list of 16 names put together by then-campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and campaign chairman Paul Manafort, did not include Martinez. It did include five women.

MENTMORE – President Russell Begaye gave the welcome address and provided a status update before the New Mexico Indian Affairs Committee July 19. The New Mexico Indian Affairs Committee Co-Chairs Representative Sharon Clahchischilliage and Sen. John Pinto both in attendance along with other members of the Committee.

Two kids taken to hospital in incident

Gallup police remain on the lookout for a vehicle that hit two kids near the intersection of Ford Canyon Drive and East Historic Highway 66, according to a police report.

Gallup Police Officer Chris Molina wrote that on July 9 a grey four-door Dodge pickup truck struck the kids while they were waiting for their mother to unload her car.  The ages of the children in question were 2 and 12 years old, according to the police report by Molina.

Report: Dead man choked to death

A dead body discovered off Second Street and not far from Sundance Dental isn’t the result of a homicide, but is something that is related to choking and drinking, according to a police report.

On July 7 at 3:15 pm, Officer Dwayne Holder of the Gallup Police Department responded to a report about someone laying on the ground and not breathing. Personnel from the city fire department checked the subject, but found no pulse.

“…informing me that the male subject was deceased and there was the onset of rigor mortis,” Holder wrote in the report as to what medics said.
