Shiprock man pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter charge

PHOENIX – Roneldo James, 28, of Pinon, Ariz., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow to eight years of imprisonment Aug. 21, to be followed by three years of supervised release.  James had previously pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.  James committed the offense with his two brothers, Delfred Lee and Milfred James, who were previously sentenced to seven and six years of imprisonment, respectively, for their roles in the offense.

On Dec. 1, 2015, James and his brothers held a juvenile victim and others at gunpoint against their will in a Pinon, Ariz. residence on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation.  All parties involved are members of the Navajo...

Unfortunately for Bitsoi, the main witness to his accident in Gamerco happened to be an off-duty Gallup Police Officer Dominic Molina, who gave a statement to MCSO Deputy Brandon Salazar that he observed Bitsoi getting out of the driver’s door and that no one else had been with him. His feeble attempt to blame the accident on his “non-present” girlfriend and his further attempts at the field sobriety test both failed. After a short go-round with the breathalyzer in the Sheriff’s Office, where he blew a 0.22 and a 0.21, Bitsoi was booked into the MCADC and his vehicle was towed by Speedway Towing.

Church Rock man sentenced to 18 years for child sex abuse conviction

ALBUQUERQUE – Patrick Begay, 43, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Churchrock, N.M., was sentenced Aug. 8 in federal court in Albuquerque, N.M., to 216 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for his conviction on an abusive sexual contact charge. Begay will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Begay was arrested in Nov. 2016, on a four-count indictment charging him with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 years from Nov. 2013 through Dec. 2015, and engaging in sexual contact with a child under the age of 12 years on Jan. 6, 2016. Begay committed the offenses on the Navajo Indian Reservation in McKinley County, N.M.
