Gallup asking residents to conserve water

The City of Gallup is asking for your help to conserve water and avoid mandatory restrictions.

As part of the Navajo Gallup Water Supply Project (NGWSP), the city soon will place the new Gamerco tanks into service that will create a much larger reserve capacity than currently exists. The existing pipeline has reached the end of its service life and will be replaced with a new larger pipeline as well.

The current connection to our system requires us to very closely monitor and restrict flows through the old pipeline until the switchover is completed in late August. The necessary flow restrictions will prevent the city from building its normal overnight reserves. Until the work is...

Zuni neighborhood watch program holds first cook-off fundraiser

Zuni Pueblo is holding its first annual A:shiwi A:wan Neighborhood Watch Summer Cook-Off contest scheduled for July 18 in Zuni, New Mexico.

This event is a combined effort of the AANW Program and the Pueblo of Zuni Police

Department, and it’s purpose is to raise monetary funds and awareness of the AANW Program’s goals and objectives for crime prevention.

We have been receiving some outstanding feedback from interested contestants, and we want to make this event a success.

Fairfield Inn & Suites has Grand Opening

The new Fairfield Inn & Suites on East Historic Highway 66 had a Grand Opening June 3, helped in the effort by the Chamber of Commerce, Don Diego’s Restaurant, and local politicians who attended.

A crowd of around 100 showed up to take a tour of the hotel offered by Manager Alexandra Griego and owner Deepesh Kholwadwala of Sun Capital Hotels.

The 72-room hotel, complete with an indoor pool and exercise room as well as a comfortable and spacious lobby, actually opened for business a couple of months ago, but invited many local residents to the Grand Opening ceremony so they could see for themselves what they had to offer guests.
