Editor,
With the prospect of having high-level radioactive nuclear waste coming to New Mexico from over 100 nuclear reactors and other potential sources located all over the United States, residents of McKinley County and Gallup have an opportunity to weigh in on the decisions that will determine this outcome.

Letter to the Editor: ‘We, The People’ need to vote

It’s time to VOTE again.
Decisions that are made on our behalf from the local to the national level; taxes are raised without electorate input; Indigenous tribes and minorities are constantly being ostracized; the environment is being reduce to contaminated wastelands as a result of unrestrained mineral extraction operations; governments are being theologically politicized that are detrimental to America’s future and the separation between Church and State; unelected individuals with questionable backgrounds are being appointed to key positions; the U.S. Treasury is being raided for the purpose of lavish personal spending; the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights and the...
Letter to the Editor: Recognizing our public servants
Public Service Recognition Week May 6-12
Dear Editor,
Across the country and in communities like Gallup, government employees serve and protect us every day. Throughout the year, but especially during Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), May 6-12, we should gratefully acknowledge their service.
I want to publically thank the over 53,000 active and retired Federal employees in New Mexico, which include about 6,300 Department of Defense employees.
Federal employees work side by side with our military at home and abroad to defend our country. They protect our borders and regulate the safety of our food and medicines. When natural disasters strike, they are there to help us recover...

Letter to the Editor: Navajo leaders must unite against Trump
Editor,
With just over 460 days in the Oval Office, approximately 146 stays at his personal properties and over 107 golfing breaks, Donald Trump (A.K.A. “John Barron” as stated to Johnathan Greenberg, ex-Forbes reporter on May 17, 1984) has set the Gold Standard for collusion with American enemies both foreign and domestic, the deliberate obstruction of justice and immoral conduct inappropriate of a sitting United States president.
Trump’s salacious cavorting with Russian hookers and their Golden Showers, along with American porn stars and 17 women (some even while they he was married to two other women and “First Lady” Melanija (Knavs) Trump) should call into question the...

Letter to the editor: Appreciating Gallup’s thoughtful citizens
To the citizens of Gallup
At the beginning of August 2016 my husband and I were visiting Gallup as part of our Route 66 trip. On the morning of the 3rd August, my husband had been taking photos of the old Coronado motel when he lost consciousness and hit his head on the ground.
Several people stopped to help and a man phoned 911 and stayed with me; another young man in a big wheel pick-up was also very kind and helpful (my memory is hazy as to physical details as I was in a bit of a panic trying to keep my husband still).
To all these thoughtful people, I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation. Our heartfelt thanks to the ambulance crew, the doctors at Methodist Hospital...
