Bonaguidi, Schaff reflect on growing up in Gallup

Neighborhood kids gathering together for a game of backyard baseball. Or shooting hoops at a friend’s house. These are some of Mayor Louie Bonaguidi’s favorite memories of growing up in Gallup during the ‘60s and ‘70s.

 

THE BONAGUIDIS MOVE TO GALLUP

The Bonaguidi family chose Gallup as their home in 1924 after Louie’s father Sesto and his brother Mario decided to expand their shoe repair business. They already had a store in Albuquerque, but they’d both heard great things about the mining town of Gallup and decided to give it a try.

New Mexico launches a new health care transparency website

This month, a new website is launching to give New Mexicans the information they need to shop around for the most affordable, highest quality health care. The website, which can be found at: apcd.doh.nm.gov, allows New Mexicans to compare average prices and quality metrics for common, non-emergency procedures at each of the state’s 44 hospitals.

The new health care transparency website is the culmination of legislation enacted in 2015 (Senate Judiciary Committee Substitute for Senate Bills 323 and 474). Unscheduled water outage for Sept. 12

An unscheduled water outage that is affecting parts of Green Avenue and Second Street started at 1:30 pm and is expected to last until 9:30 pm.

The outage will affect City of Gallup water customers in the following area:

  • The intersection of Green Avenue and Second Street
A contractor will be fixing an emergency water leak. Water service will need to be turned off temporarily while the contractor fixes the leak.

Scheduled water outage for Sept. 12

A scheduled water outage that will affect parts of East Logan Avenue will take place on Sept. 12 from 9 am to 5 pm.

The outage will affect City of Gallup residents in the following area:

  • 400-500 block of East Logan Avenue
The city's water department will be repairing a water line break in the area and will need to shut off the water in order to do their work safely.

Surrounding areas may experience low water pressure.
