WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — The 25th Navajo Nation Council will convene for the 2025 Winter Council Session Jan. 27 at 10 am in the Council Chamber, located in the nation’s capital of Window Rock, Ariz.
“The 25th Navajo Nation Council welcomes all visitors to the People’s House to take part in the 2025 Winter Council Session,” Crystalyne Curley, Speaker of the 25th Navajo Nation Council, said in a Jan. 24 press release. “Winter serves as a season for reflection and planning, and during this session, the Council will address key legislations that affect the well-being of our tribal members. It’s a time for unity, so we invite everyone to join us in this important legislative session.”
Prior to the session’s formal opening at 10 am, the Council will host a presentation on Human Trafficking Prevention, led by Elarina Nakai, Community Involvement Specialist for the Division of Child and Family Services. The presentation will address critical issues related to the Missing and Murdered Diné Relatives crisis, which continues to affect many tribal nations.
The Chinle High School ROTC will present the colors to open the session, and Miss Navajo Nation 2024-2025, Ranisha C. Begay, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Students from Cleveland Middle School in Albuquerque will sing the National Anthem and the invocation will be given by Dr. Louva Dahozy.
The State of the Navajo Nation Address is scheduled for delivery Jan. 27 in accordance with Title 2 of the Navajo Nation Code.
