The Second Annual People’s State of the Navajo Nation will take place Jan. 14 at Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City, Ariz.
Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren, 20 Executive Branch division directors and staff will present the Nygren Administration’s many 2024 accomplishments and announce its goals for 2025.
“This Jan. 14th is about being proud to be Navajo and to show what we’ve done when we think for the future,” Nygren said in a Dec. 31 press release. "“For the second time, we will showcase to the world that the Navajo Nation is continuing to move forward. This is the time and place that gives our people pride.”
Doors to the day-long event will open at 8 am and continue until 3 pm.
Guest speakers and entertainment will continue until 11 am, when President Nygren takes the stage to present his second People's State of the Navajo Nation address.
The hour-long report will outline the progress and accomplishments his Administration has made in 2024, the goals for 2025, the executive orders he’s signed, and the changes made within the Executive Branch to solve problems and increase efficiency.
A lunch will be served to 2,000 people expected to attend.
Entertainment will be performed between presentations, and up-dates will be given by the Executive Branch division directors about how their programs are advancing.
Like last year, the day is intended to celebrate what the Navajo Nation can do and is doing for the Navajo people.
“I want the people to see our divisions and to see for themselves where our Nation is going and how they can be a part of it,” Nygren said. “These annual events are to remind our Navajo people that they need to feel good about who they are, where they live, to see that progress is being made and that they can be proud of their language, culture and heritage.”
