New Mexico Rep. Eliseo “Lee” Alcon, a Democrat from Milan, N.M., who was reelected to his seat during the 2024 General Election, announced his immediate retirement from the House of Representatives on Nov. 25, citing a need to focus on his health.
Alcon was originally elected to the N.M. House of Representatives in 2009. He advocated for New Mexico veterans, the economy, and the environment. He also served as chair of the Consumer and Public Affairs Committee and the Labor, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.
Cibola and McKinley County Commissions will each nominate a replacement and the governor will appoint one to finish out Alcon’s term.
