ALBUQUERQUE — An Arizona man pleaded guilty in federal court on Oct. 1 to charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault resulting in serious bodily injury, admitting to causing a fatal three-vehicle crash.

According to the plea agreement, Olan Jumbo, 31, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, admitted that on Nov. 26, 2022, shortly after midnight, he caused a three-vehicle crash in Navajo, N.M., while driving under the influence of alcohol. Jumbo was speeding when he collided with a vehicle driven by a woman with a man in the passenger seat. As a result of the collision, the woman suffered fatal injuries, while the man sustained serious bodily harm.

At sentencing, Jumbo faces up to 10 years in prison. Upon his release from prison, Jumbo will be subject to up to three years of supervised release.

The Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Police Department and Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meg Tomlinson is prosecuting the case.
