ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is investigating a shooting that occurred at the Children, Youth & Families Department building.
On Oct. 1, the bureau was called to investigate a shooting at the building located at 4501 Indian School Road NE in Albuquerque. They learned that around 7:30 pm that day a security guard working for Securitas Security Services assigned to the CYFD building, observed a male identified as Casey McCray, 36, sleeping on the property. The security guard advised McCray that he was trespassing and had to leave the property. McCray grabbed a cannister of bear spray from his backpack and sprayed the security guard. The security guard then fired at least one round from his duty firearm, hitting McCray.
When NMSP officers arrived on scene, they began life saving measures on McCray until EMS personnel arrived and transported McCray to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is currently in stable condition. The security guard was interviewed and later released.
This case is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau.
