A man who stole a car has been arrested and will be charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, fleeing law enforcement, false imprisonment, and an outstanding bench warrant.
During the evening hours of Aug. 29, McKinley County Sheriff's Office pursued a man who was later identified as Deon Begay. Begay allegedly stole a truck from someone in Holbrook, AZ.
At some point during the chase MCSO deputies did lose sight of Begay. But then a "good Samaritan" waved some deputies down to show them where the suspect had fled on foot.
A New Mexico State Police helicopter was in the area on a different operation and used its technology to locate the suspect on foot about a mile from the vehicle.
Deputies took Begay into custody without incident and he is being charged with the aforementioned charges. More information will be published as it becomes available.
