A Pinedale man has pled guilty to sexual abuse of a minor.

According to the plea agreement and other court documents, during December 2020,  Sheldon Livingston engaged in a sexual act with a child who was younger than 12 years old. The assault took place in McKinley County on the Navajo Nation.

Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced April 19 that Livingston, 23,  pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact of a child under 12 in Indian Country. Livingston will remain in custody pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

Under the terms of his agreement, Livingston can be sentenced to between 10 and 20 years in prison and must register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

The Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Zachary C. Jones is prosecuting the case.
